Probiotics...for you and the children?

Postby Celia on Sat Sep 12, 2009 1:14 pm

.

What kind do you take and what do you give your children? Neither of my girls really do tablets (except chewable), though my youngest has swallowed very small ones. (The older has "issues" with taking pills--she cannot swallow them.)

I'd like to try and keep us healthier this winter season and so I'd like to get some probiotics.....just not sure what brand.

We use Primadopholus. It comes in powder, and I toss it into their smoothies and they don't even know it's there!

I have the same kind, powdered for my kids. You can mix it into everything. I asked where I bought it and they said 1/2 teasp even for my (at the time) 1 year old. They also take a regular multivitamin and vitamin C.

We use a capsule form--Jarro-Dophilus EPS. http://www.vitacost.com/Jarrow-Formulas ... tic-System It has multiple strains. If your girls can't take the capsule, you can break it open and sprinkle it into some applesauce or something. Just be sure you don't put it into anything warm or it will kill the probiotic.

I take the pearls from Shaklee. I gag on my vitamins every day (not a pill taker), but the pearls are easy EASY to take. They are little circles and they go right down.

The product is called Optiflora and you already know that it *saved* me from my bout with yeast when breastfeeding Simon. Of course, it isn't a yeast cure-all, but it worked when no other probiotic would.

Normal, healthy colonies of lactobacilli and bifidobacteria can help maintain a healthy balance of intestinal microflora. Unlike other probiotics that may disintegrate prematurely and never reach the lower intestine, Optiflora’s state-of-the-art, triple encapsulated, seamless capsule is guaranteed to withstand the acidic environment of the stomach to deliver live beneficial bacteria to the intestine.

I think you could give the girls each one per week, and it would do a ton of good (I take one per day but I have issues, you know). Also, I would give them one any time you eat at a restaurant (to fight all those germy-wermies!!). :)

We use this https://www.advocare.com/980431/Store/I ... W3821&id=D

It reminds me of a pixie stick type powder in the taste. The kids love it.

I take the capsule form. Probiotic restore (daily)
